Hi all our Doggie Supporters,

Thank you all for the food and funds you help me out with for the Township Dogs.  Here are some of the dogs we have helped recently.  The very thin puppies we reported to Animal Welare, and two of them I removed myself and took to Animal Welfare, and the very thin brown dog, we also reported and Animal Welfare have removed her.  She was a sweet, gentle dog, but nobody cared for her or fed her.

We have bought many kennels with the funds from Janet and Jim from Canada, and this makes a huge difference to dogs lives in the township.  They just love their rainfree shelters.  All these dogs know our bus and come for food.  There is one ginger and white dog in one of the pics from Nekkies, and he just wants to come home with me, he followed us all the way to the orphanage the other day, and I had to turn around and take him all the way back home, he doesn't leave my side when go into the area.  We helped him when he was a pup, and he has never forgotten us, even though we did not go to this area for about 1 year while they were building there.

We also spent some funds on some fencing and built an enclosure for three dogs, that were going to be put down, because they were catching the neighbours chickens !! (Personally, I thought the chickens should be enclosed and not the dogs - but such is the township!)

Thanks again to everyone.
Lots of love

Penny and Ella

SOUP KITCHEN
Well our new Soup Kitchen is underway and doing well. Hopefully it will be finished within a week. Everyone has been building, and tiling and painting and grouting and paving . . . you name it! We can't wait to get going again. It will have two toilets inside, which will help. A TV and DVD for the children to watch some decent dvd's when the weather is bad and there is nothing else to do. We have had an offer for a local person in Knysna to come and teach some art and craft to the children which will be wonderful.

SAFE HOUSE
Much has taken place at the Safe House. Nandipha has a job (thanks to Anja, who took her all over town and spoke to everyone she knew until she found Nandipha a job) - all went well and Nandipha and the children will probably be able to move out into their own home soon and be independent. Well done Nandipha.
We have Dora and her 3 year old (Attie) and 1 month old (Beautiful Rose) staying in the Safe House. They are doing well and it won't be long before Dora finds work and moves on with her life.
We have one new comer to the Safe House and we are helping her through a difficult patch in her life.

We have plans drawn up for a new building to be put up at the Safe House and this should be finalised very soon. Thank you to our donors here, Mark and Moira Hamlin, Calla Scott, MG Car Club, Knysna Municipality, Jim and Janet Jamer.

At Ella's house things are going well - we have 4 children staying there. Little Tracey (3 years), Lino (3 years), Fikile (4 months) and Voyo (15 years). They are all doing famously well, happy, settled, all involved in education of some sort.

COUNSELLING CENTRE
Our new Counselling Centre is 80% finished and will be utilized for workshops for HIV awareness programmes and counselling in all personal matters. We now have 5 sewing machines and we plan to hold a sewing class once a week in the counselling centre and Lydia Lomas will come from town to teach a group of interested ladies. We have plans for the future for this room to be used to counsel and help students between the ages of 15 - 22 years old to further their tertiary education. So great plans for the Counselling Centre.

EDUCATION PROJECT
We continue to help children buy school uniforms and pay for children's education at Pre School and Cumon extra maths and english lessons.

ANIMAL WELFARE
On every tour, we continue to look out for our fluffy friends. Providing kennels, collars, food, water and worm pills. We encourage people to sterilize their dogs and report any bad cases to Animal Welfare in Knysna.

Thanks to everyone who helps us with funding, clothes, food, physical help, teaching, dog food, encouraging words and love. You help to keep all these projects running and ultimately change lives. We love you all.
